Egyéni látogatók számára a Szépművészeti Múzeum önkéntes tárlatvezetői a Régi Képtár különböző gyűjteményeiben magyar nyelven péntekenként 14.00 órakor, szombaton 11 órakor; angol nyelven keddtől péntekig 11.00 és 14.00 órakor, és szombaton 11.00 órakor ingyenes tárlatvezetést tartanak. A nyári hónapokban minden kedden, szerdán és csütörtökön 13.00 órakor a látogatók a Szépművészeti Múzeum legismertebb képeit tekinthetik meg angol nyelvű tárlatvezetéssel.
A múzeum angol nyelvű önkéntes tárlatvezetői képzésének, a Docens Programnak keretében meghirdetett előadásokra szeretettel várjuk a képzésben nem résztvevő érdeklődőket is!
A Szépművészeti Múzeum docens képzése angol nyelvű. A leendő docenseknek folyékonyan és érthetően kell beszélniük angolul, de az előadásokat azok is látogathatják, akik csak fel szeretnék frissíteni nyelvtudásukat.
A 2012-es tavaszi szemeszterben többféle kurzust indítunk: egy kommunikációs szemináriumot és két előadássorozatot. A kommunikációs szeminárium a tárlatvezetés gyakorlati ismereteire koncentrál, a leendő docensek kommunikációs és előadói képességeit fejleszti. Ezeken az órákon csak a teljes docensképzésre jelentkezők vehetnek részt. A Three Dimensional Beauty: Sculptures in the Museum of Fine Arts című művészettörténeti előadássorozat keretében a Szépművészeti Múzeum tudományos dolgozói és múzeumpedagógusai az európai szobrászat történetét és a múzeum szobrait mutatják be. A Mythology and the Bible in Art című előadássorozat előadói gyakorlott docensek, akik minden alkalommal más és más szempontot figyelembe véve mutatják be a mítoszok / a Szentírás szövegei és az ábrázolt képi világ közötti gazdag szimbolikus összefüggésrendszert.
Az előadásokra mindenkit szeretettel várunk, fizetés alkalmanként is lehetséges. A teljes docensképzés ára 40.000 Ft, amely tartalmazza az előadások árát és az angol nyelvű tananyagot is.
Ha Ön nem szeretne a teljes képzésen részt venni, csak alkalmanként egy-egy előadást hallgatna meg, akkor a következő árak érvényesek: a Three Dimensional Beauty: Sculptures in the Museum of Fine Arts című művészettörténeti előadássorozat egy-egy előadása 2500 Ft, a Mythology and the Bible in Art című szemináriumon való részvétel alkalmanként 1800 Ft. Előzetes regisztráció nem szükséges.

The docents of the Museum of Fine Arts offer individual visitors free guided tours in English in the Collection of Old Master Paintings from Tuesday to Friday at 11:00 and 14:00, and on Saturdays at 11:00. During the summer months Highlights Tours are offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 13.00. Docents also offer free guided tours in Hungarian on Fridays at 14.00, and on Saturdays and Sundays at 11.00.
For advance booking of group tours and to arrange private tours, please contact the Museum Education Department at education@mfab.hu or call +36 1 469-7180 to schedule a guided tour with one of our Museum guides for a fee. Tours can be arranged in English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian and Spanish.
The word docent is derived from the Latin „docere” meaning to lead. Originally used to denote a professor or university lecturer, the term has expanded to include the volunteer guides who staff many museums and other educational institutions. Docents introduce guests to the Museum collections by providing free tours throughout the galleries and help visitors gain a deeper understanding of the art on display. In addition to their function as guides, Docents also often conduct research using the institution's facilities or provide administrative support for the Docent Program.
Prospective Docents undergo intensive training by the Museum that focuses on interpretive and communication skills so they may better introduce the Museum’s collections to visitors. The Spring 2012 training season consists of two components: the Docent Training Workshop and a two-part lecture series.
Since all of these classes are in English, it is essential that prospective Docents have a fluent grasp of the English language, although it is not necessary to be a native speaker.
The Docent Training Workshop focuses on the practical aspects of docenting – largely presentation and interpretive skills. This Training Workshop is a series of required classes, open only to prospective docents. These classes meet on Tuesdays, after the Art Studies lectures, from 13.00 to 14.30.
The Art Studies Lecture Series in Spring 2012 consists of two main parts: a course on sculpture led by Museum educators that focuses on the Museum of Fine Arts Budapest’s permanent collections, and an additional thematic lecture series that examines the connection between the rich symbolism of the Bible, mythology and art. These lectures are open to the public – all are welcome!The fee to train as a docent is HUF 40,000 which includes the Training Workshop classes and materials, as well as both lecture series. If you wish to attend the lectures but not become a docent, you may attend any of the Art Lectures for HUF 2,500 per lecture and the Mythology and the Bible in Art for HUF 1,800 per lecture. All are welcome. Advance registration is not required - come when you can!

Three Dimensional Beauty: Sculptures in the Museum of Fine Arts

The Romanesque sculptors let their imagination run wild while carving endearingly grotesque monsters into the tops of the pillars in abbey cloisters. The creators of Gothic sculptures endeavoured to form tall and thin human figures which reflected the soaring vertical lines of the cathedrals. Gradually these carved images began to detach themselves from church pillars and walls, and the dignified free-standing human figures of the Renaissance masters were soon to be celebrated for their “independence.” The festive spirit continued and was accelerated by the excesses of the Mannerist and Baroque masterpieces showing previously unseen dynamism, theatricality and emotionality. Nevertheless, when the celebration was over, it was time to look back on the past to build a new future. Our lecture series this spring will also offer a time of retrospection.
Everyone is welcome – the lectures are open to all. Attend only a few or the whole series. No need to register in advance. Come when you can!
